Abstract

In this panel-style discussion Cassandra Neumann, Sean Devine and Alexa Ruel spoke about their research. Cassandra spoke about her work demonstrating that older adults expend more effort where younger adults don’t in a bid to increase their performance on basic cognitive tasks. Alexa qualified these findings by showing age-related changes in the neural mechanisms underlying goal-directed decision-making. Finally, Sean discussed how older adults' approach to tasks like these affect higher order decision-making.
